The Quiet Ache of Not Knowing Your Purpose

Feeling lost, stuck, or unsure of your purpose? Discover how hidden grief in your family system may be shaping your path, and how somatic and systemic healing can help you reconnect with your life’s direction.

There’s a particular kind of pain that doesn’t shout.
It hums beneath the surface.

It’s not quite depression. Not burnout.
Just a subtle numbness. A fog. A quiet ache that whispers…

“Is this all there is?”

Maybe you’ve followed the steps - the job, the relationships, the healing work - and yet something still feels flat. Meaningless. Like you’re floating through someone else’s life.

This isn't a sign that you’ve failed.
It's a signal that something deeper is calling.

And it may not be yours alone.

What Family Constellations Teach Us About Purpose

In Family Constellations, we look beyond the personal.
We explore the invisible threads connecting you to the generations before you, and how unfinished stories may be living in your body and your choices.

When someone in your lineage experienced unacknowledged grief or loss - a child who died young, a sibling who disappeared, a parent who gave up their dreams out of necessity - those stories don’t vanish. They echo.

And without even realising it, someone later in the family (often the most sensitive, intuitive one) begins to carry that story forward.

We see this show up as:

  • Feeling directionless, but not knowing why

  • Starting and stopping creative projects, never quite finishing

  • Guilt when imagining a life “bigger” or “freer” than your parents had

  • Subconsciously self-sabotaging any new opportunity that arises

This is often a form of what we call “entanglement.”

You may be holding an unconscious loyalty to someone who didn’t get to live fully.
And your nervous system, in its fierce love, whispers:

“If they couldn’t… maybe I shouldn’t either.”

Purpose Isn’t Found. It’s Reclaimed.

This is why finding your purpose isn’t about pushing harder, chasing clarity, or waiting for a lightning bolt of insight.

It’s about untangling.

It’s about honouring what came before you, so you can stop carrying what was never yours to hold.

A Somatic Practice to Begin Loosening the Tangle

Somatic work helps you meet the felt experience of this pattern. Not just understanding it, but shifting it gently, in the body.

Try this today:

  1. Place one hand over your heart, and one over your belly.

  2. Take three slow breaths, all the way down into your pelvis.

  3. Say softly to yourself:

“I no longer need to stay small in loyalty to pain.”
“I open my heart to my purpose.”

Let the words linger.
Notice what stirs, resistance, tears, tension, nothing at all. It’s all welcome.
There’s nothing to fix. Just feel.

You’re not doing this alone.
You’re walking with those who came before you, and giving them their rightful place, so you can take yours.

Receive a Gentle Ritual for This Pattern

If this lands for you, I’ve created a free healing ritual that gently guides you through this specific entanglement, the one where your stuckness may be tangled with someone else’s grief.

This is for you if:

  • You feel like life is passing you by

  • You sense a block but can’t name it

  • You’ve done the mindset work and still feel lost

  • You want to open to purpose, without pushing

✨ You can access the free ritual here:

This is your permission slip to explore what’s underneath the stuckness.
You’re not broken. You’re connected.

Let’s honour the past, and make space for the future.
