I was counselling long before I discovered this wound in it's depth and complexity so I'd already helped a lot of people. But it wasn't until I formed this body of work through transforming my own life that I was able to offer anything close to the transformation that is in this course for you.

Transformation

I was already trained in Holistic Counselling and I thought I had trauma sorted. I'd been helping people from all around the world heal for years to heal. Then came a time in my life where I felt such a sense of not belonging, not on the planet, not in my body, not to the human race.

  • I know what it's like to walk into a room full of friends and family and feel completely alone

  • I know what it's like to have a bag full of coping mechanisms like eating processed foods then starving myself, picking up my phone to distract-a-scroll or hooking up with a random person all just so I don't have face any real feelings

  • I know what it's like to put everyone else's needs before my own and never let anyone close enough to try and meet my needs

  • I know what it's like to push people away because you don't feel worthy of having your own needs met

  • I know what it's like to feel like you don't deserve kindness so continually attract people who are going to take, take, take from you without giving back

  • I know what it's like to do things for free because I'd rather be liked than earn enough money to feel safe and abundant

  • I know what it's like to go to therapy and try every healing modality and feel like you're taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back

  • I know what it's like to know I was destined for more. That this can't be it. To know that if only I could find the right tools I could create lasting transformation and change.

What created this wound?

The abandonment wound is a core wound. Which means we all have it to varying degrees.

It is formed when we were:

  • Physically abandoned by a parent/s leaving or dying

  • Emotionally unavailable parent/s

  • Being left as a baby to "cry it out" as the experts schooled our parents to do

  • Being told to abandon our true emotions "don't cry" "don't be angry" "don't whinge" "not now"

  • Being told by your parent/s to "go away" or "go to your room"

  • At school being put in the naughty, or time out corner away from everyone else

  • Parent/s who were physically sick so you had to look after them

  • Parent/s with mental health issues so you had to be the responsible one

  • Having to leave school early and get a job to support parent/s

And because we did not have the tools through education to heal ourselves, those wounded parts of us are still in our nervous system, locked away with layers of coping responses on top of them, we abandon these parts of ourselves over and over, every day. Until we choose to learn tools to heal.

Working with your mind and trying to change your thoughts or doing nervous system regulation tools will not heal this at the core. They may give temporary relief, but it will not last.
